Why The Father's Ranch is Unique Print E-mail
newentrancesignThe Father’s Ranch is a unique counseling ministry offering a distinctive approach to ministry. The following five characteristics highlight some of our uniqueness.

A Biblical Approach

First of all, The Father’s Ranch is unique because our approach to counseling is thoroughly biblical.  Being strong proponents of nouthetic (biblical) counseling, we reject modern-day humanistic psychology as THE way to promote healing.  We do believe in the sufficiency of the Word of God (the bible) to heal the mind and subsequently, change the behavior.  Placing an emphasis on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (regeneration) and then on the ongoing process of spiritual growth (progressive sanctification), we believe the majority of non-organic issues and problems that plague people fall to the wayside as the mind is renewed and the spirit is strengthened.  “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete.” Colossians 2:9, 10

Rural Environment

The Father’s Ranch is unique because of its rural location.  Nestled in the beautiful Okanogan Highlands of North-Central Washington State, The Father’s Ranch facility site lies upon a mountainous 101-acre former horse ranch.  Complete with housing, barns, corrals, and plenty of open space and fresh air, this God-given facility is used simply as a tool by the Lord to restore young women who come for help (prodigals) that have become entangled in a self-destructive sin lifestyle.  Believing the scriptures that "God's invisible qualities and His eternal power...are clearly seen...from what has been made..." Romans 1:20, we trust that this rural, ranch-type setting provides a safe and protected getaway from the people/areas of temptation and sin that our Students have become all too familiar with.

Financial Freedom

The Father’s Ranch is unique because of its financial practices and philosophies.  Subscribing to a strong belief in the sovereignty of God, The Father's Ranch operates without accepting state or federal aid, insurance, Social Security or other disability funds, and does not solicit for its support. This ministry does not provide a salary for any of its employees, from the President to the Interns, and no one receives even as much as an occasional stipend. Each worker committed to serve in this ministry must trust in the providing hand of Providence to supply for their needs. Therefore, each dollar donated to The Father's Ranch goes directly to meet the needs of this ministry.  “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Community Life

The Father’s Ranch is unique because of its sense of community.  Living in a fast-paced, technologically advanced culture has helped foster a breakdown of relationship at almost every level. We believe that relationship is central to Christian growth.  “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 Correspondingly, we offer an environment that has a tangible sense of community. There is a feeling of being connected to others, a sense of bonding that reaches far deeper than most individuals experience in our culture. The Father’s Ranch is a community where it is safe to be known, safe to fail, and safe to be you. In a world of institutionalized distance, it's a life changing experience.

Thorough and Ongoing Ministry

Lastly, The Father’s Ranch is unique because of our ongoing commitment to our students.  Because sinful thinking patterns and the subsequent behavioral patterns that flow from this thinking don’t develop overnight, a belief that one can escape these patterns in a short 30-45 day program usually isn’t very realistic.  Therefore, The Father’s Ranch offers a one-year, residential treatment program that thoroughly addresses the issues plaguing the student over an appropriate amount of time.

More often than not, the environment that our students left to come to The Father’s Ranch was an unhealthy one.  They are often left without adequate resources or healthy options when their graduation date draws near.  Therefore, The Father’s Ranch continues to minister, assist and encourage students far beyond the graduation date.  The Father’s Ranch, through our many ministry relationships, often helps our students face the difficult decisions of life far after they have graduated and left The Father’s Ranch.
